Getting around CAR
The roads in the Central African Republic are notorious for its lack of maintenance.
The most common form of public transportation are buses, which offers a very cheap way to travel.
However, buses are always overcrowded and are not the safest way to travel. Locals are friendly and will allow you to hitch a ride although in CAR hitchhikers are expected to pay for the ride.
If you wish to ride in style there are some car rental services where you can rent just a car or a chauffeur driven car. To go from one town to the next you can also opt to stay out of the road by riding a ferry in the Oubangui River.
